The UK’s Department for International Trade recently coordinated a mission for Mexico’s healthcare regulatory agency Federal Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS) to meet British healthcare institutions, share best practices and support Mexico in improving conditions and access to the market in the healthcare and life sciences sectors.

TOPRA joined organisations including representatives of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the NHS, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) to present on their respective takes on the current challenges and opportunities.

Representing TOPRA were Professor Thomas Kühler (Past-President 2016) and Kevin Pay (Chief Executive) who provided their insights into the relationships between regulatory agencies and industry and how to improve them.

Kevin Pay said: “This mission was an incredible chance to share our experiences and knowledge, with the aim of strengthening international collaboration. We are looking forward to more opportunities to work with our global community and build new relationships that ultimately deliver tangible benefits for patients.”
