Gathering data as part of information services is not new, and over the past few decades the scope and significance of decision-making has widened, and the speed of information gathering and access to immediate data has intensified. It is important to highlight that “regulatory information” (raw data) does not automatically equate to “regulatory intelligence” (active analysis and interpretation). So how does one get from the former to the latter? Accessing credible sources of information and effective external and internal collaboration is key.

TOPRA’s Regulatory Intelligence Special internet Network (SPIN) has developed this knowledge hub of regulatory sources and information. Sources of regulatory information can be broken down into four areas:

  • Public sources
  • Subscriptions services
  • Internal sources
  • Networking
