Directors

Kevin Pay

Kevin Pay | Chief Executive

Kevin has worked at director level in both the commercial and charity sectors for the last 15 years, including many years in pharmaceutical packaging (GMP) and at Imperial College Healthcare Charity, before joining TOPRA.

Kevin leads the executive team and is accountable for strategic direction and business plans. He has overall accountability for performance against agreed objectives and risk management across the organisation.

Jenine Willis

Jenine Willis | Director of Communications and Publishing

Jenine has more than 25 years' experience in healthcare journalism, including pharmaceutical, medical and nursing publications. Before joining TOPRA in 2008, she was the Editor of the Good Clinical Practice Journal. She is responsible for overseeing TOPRA communications, marketing, digital and publishing activities, as well as the Awards for Regulatory Excellence, which recognise achievements in regulatory affairs.

Samantha Cooper

Samantha Cooper | Director of Professional Development

Samantha is responsible for overseeing the training courses and educational resources provided by TOPRA as well as ensuring we support the development of professionals in regulatory affairs throughout their career journey. Samantha is passionate about encouraging those entering regulatory affairs to achieve the highest level of professionalism and the status and recognition they deserve. Samantha began her own career journey in scientific research and joined TOPRA from the higher education sector with experience of running programmes and courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. In addition to her doctorate Samantha is a Chartered Biologist and has a postgraduate certificate in higher education.

Membership

Sinead Whelan

Sinéad Whelan | Head of Membership and Data Insight

Sinéad is responsible for the strategic development and growth of membership, including oversight of member groups (SPINs and TOPRA Ins) and services.

Sinéad has worked in various not-for-profit and membership based roles over the past ten years, including Volunteering England, Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and most recently Foresters, in the membership arm of a fraternal insurance organisation.

 Jamie Gould

Jamie Gould | Membership Officer

Jamie joined TOPRA in January 2020 and is responsible for the membership administration, assisting new members in TOPRA, and working with certain member networking groups.

Jamie has worked for membership organisations in the past in such sectors as engineering, gem trade, logistics, UK theatre and the Commonwealth.

Client services

Erik Smit

Erik Smit | Client Development Manager

Erik is responsible for the commercial activities at TOPRA, including exhibitions, sponsorship and advertising. He also coordinates the annual careers fair ‘Regulatory Careers Live’. Prior to that he was responsible for TOPRA’s Marketing Function. He joined TOPRA in 2005 following his roles as Marketing Executive at the Sector Skills Council for Science & Engineering Manufacturing Technologies and before that Marketing & Development Executive at Miller Freeman (United Business Media), publishers of Food Manufacture, and Manufacturing Chemist. Erik studied International Management at Arnhem Business School, and he has a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from Kingston Business School.

Education and training

 

Raluca Radu | Regulatory Intelligence and Symposium Manager

Raluca is responsible for ensuring the most relevant topics are covered in TOPRA’s annual meeting plan. She coordinates roundtables, conferences and the Annual TOPRA Symposium, with a particular focus on programme development, managing the relationship between the working parties, the TOPRA Office and regulatory authorities. She has a keen interest in regulatory and health policy, as well as education and before she joined TOPRA she worked in the Public Engagement and SME Office of the European Medicines Agency.

Kay Wood 

Kay Wood | Education and Apprenticeship Lead

Kay joined TOPRA in July 2006 as maternity cover for the Membership and Advertising Secretary. She then went on to become Office Coordinator. Taking over the position of Postgraduate Administrator 2007, Kay is currently studying Business Studies with the Open University which has given her a greater understanding of her students' needs.

Sammi Kwok 

Sammi Kwok | Training and Registration Lead

Sammi joined the professional development team in 2017. She organises the logistics for a variety of training courses and conferences including liaising with the working parties and supports the delivery of TOPRA eLearning and webinars. Sammi graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Marketing with Events Management. Since graduating, she has worked in various event roles within the not-for-profit sector, organising a range of events from training seminars and conferences to diploma and awards ceremonies.

Cristina Dragan

Cristina Dragan | Training and Registration Lead

Cristina joined TOPRA in 2019 and is responsible of coordinating CRED courses, webinars and online courses. Cristina has a diploma in pharmacy and started her career in a company which specialises in pharmacovigilance services. She is passionate about learning and development and has a keen interest in health policy.

Communications and publishing

Benedict Lam

Benedict Lam | Managing Editor - Regulatory Rapporteur

Benedict joined TOPRA in March 2018 as Communications Editor. He is a practising pharmacist who has worked in publishing for over nine years at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain as senior editor of The Pharmaceutical Journal. He has also worked on digital educational content, and is an associate exam question writer for the registration assessment of the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Madeleine Meyer | Senior Subeditor

Madeleine has been reporting on the pharmaceutical industry for more than ten years, with previous roles as acting editor on Good Clinical Practice Journal and chief sub-editor on Scrip Magazine. She joined TOPRA in 2009 to become Managing Editor of Regulatory Rapporteur. The journal provides peer-reviewed, in-depth coverage of topical regulatory affairs issues to TOPRA members, regulators, academia and industry libraries.

Marketing and digital

Oli Rahman

Oli Rahman | Head of Marketing

Oli joined TOPRA in November of 2018 as Head of Marketing following several years of hands-on private and public sector experience in web design, CRM integration, lead generation, social media and email marketing, and direct sales. He is in charge of TOPRA's marketing operations, with responsibility for leading and overseeing the execution of the organisation's marketing campaigns.

Cliff Annicelli 

Cliff Annicelli | Digital Lead

Cliff joined TOPRA in January 2018 to oversee our websites. His role includes project management of site upgrades and changes, content editing, and ensuring the functionality of both public and member areas of our sites. Cliff is also responsible for coordinating digital outreach for the Membership team and plays an active role in developing marketing content for TOPRA's social media channels, and in the design and production of our email newsletters.

Mohammed Abumahlula

Mohammed Abumahlula | Marketing Officer

Mohammed joined TOPRA in October 2018. He is responsible for our social media content and marketing efforts. He also handles creation of marketing emails for our courses, Awards and other programmes.

Finance and office

Vincent Costello

Vincent Costello | Financial Controller

Vincent joined TOPRA as Management Accountant in 2010. Prior to joining TOPRA Vincent gained work experience in finance roles in the architecture/design, charity, recruitment, media/broadcasting, technology & banking sectors. This extensive work experience includes roles successfully completed in Ireland, UK, US and Australia. Vincent is a Certified Accountant and also holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Accounting & Finance having graduated from Athlone Institute of Technology and Griffith College Dublin, Ireland.

Jatinder Gill

Jay Gill | Accounts Assistant

Jay joined TOPRA in January 2018 as our Accounts Assistant working in the finance department. Jay processes conference and training sales invoices, posts duly authorised expense reports from staff and volunteers, and processes our supplier payments. Working alongside Vincent, Jay assists with VAT report preparation, yearly audit visits and event reconciliations.

Elizabeth Walker 

Elizabeth Walker | Executive Support

Elizabeth joined TOPRA in October 2019 as our Executive Support. Elizabeth provides support to the Directors and assists on various projects as well as managing the office and external bookings for our meeting rooms.
