On 21 March, the UK Government’s Health and Social Care Committee published the report “Brexit: medicines, medical devices and substances of human origin”, having considered evidence from a range of stakeholders, including TOPRA – The Organisation for Professionals in Regulatory Affairs.

The report’s overriding message is that the UK should continue to press to align with the EU regulatory regimes for medicines, medical devices and substances of human origin both during any transition period and afterwards.

Lynda Wight, Executive Director of TOPRA, said: “I am pleased to see the Committee urge the UK to seek the closest possible alignment as this is in the best interest not only of patients but also regulatory professionals in the UK and across the EU.”
