TOPRA in Sweden Meeting - Health Technology Assessment (HTA)
TOPRA invites you to a networking meeting on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) from a regulatory perspective. This evening will address HTA including Health Economics. You also get the opportunity to meet colleagues in a relaxed and pleasant environment.

Health-economic questions during the development of a new drug are becoming increasingly important. If, after regulatory approval, a drug is to reach the patient, it must undergo a health economic evaluation, a basis for pricing and a decision on subsidy. This is done at national level in the various EU countries. Hear about the EU Commission's proposal on a Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Regulation, how TLV works with health economic assessments and HTA strategy during drug development.

Many new drugs provide opportunities to treat serious illnesses and the potential to cure patients. However, these drugs are often expensive and are often associated with major uncertainties in the data upon approval. Examples of this are ATMPs or orphan drugs, which often have small patient populations and have long-term data but at the same time there is a great clinical need for treatments. These aspects cause difficulties for HTA authorities to evaluate the products and assess the cost-effectiveness.
