Current position and relevant professional experience:
I hold a number of concurrent positions which apply my 25 years of experience in regulatory affairs & research and development. I provide drug development advice and regulatory consulting through RareGeniX Consulting, a small advisory firm which helps SME biotechs develop new medicines. I am a Director of Regulatory Affairs at Canopy Life Sciences – a US life sciences service partner where I support regulatory operations and business development activities and I also act as a fractional Chief Regulatory Officer at a SME organisation developing topical pain relief medicines.
Current or previous involvement in TOPRA activities:
I have supported TOPRA in a variety of capacities over the past 16 years and engaged with TOPRA members at various stages of their careers, from speaking at the TOPRA Careers Fair through to delivering subject matter expertise in TOPRA’s advanced learning settings. Over the years I have discussed TOPRA’s strategy with past Chief Executives, TOPRA leaders and board members and contributed to the annual development day/strategy days in my role as a SPIN chair. Over my years of volunteering, I can see that TOPRA need to better segment their offering for folks at different stages of their careers to provide real value for membership fees. TOPRA has to be more than free Regulatory Rapporteur Articles!
I initially started my support for TOPRA as an Introductory Course case study facilitator and have supported ten introductory courses including being the day chair and a speaker. I have also been a speaker on various webinars, CRED courses & now support the Annual Symposium SME working party.
I have co-chaired the clinical trial SPIN for over five years and contributed to four articles in the Regulatory Rapporteur. In 2025 my Canopy colleagues and I were thrilled to win the TOPRA Support Award and be invited to attend the awards dinner, and I was also delighted to gain Fellowship status in 2025.
Personal statement:
Many regulatory colleagues have told me they didn’t renew their TOPRA membership because they didn’t see the value. I’m a huge fan of TOPRA so I would like to change this! I certainly feel the organisation is in a unique position to offer more. If you’re reading this, you’re likely a fellow regulatory professional & ‘conducting a gap analysis’ should resonate. I think TOPRA should do just that - segment their member categories and better understand what students, early career, aspiring leaders and established practitioners want and need. What does it mean to be a TOPRA Fellow? In this attention economy I would like to help TOPRA deliver value, relevance and prestige. As a keen conversationalist in the life sciences community, I would bring a broad range of perspectives from across the membership spectrum and help amplify the voice of diverse member groups.
