Getting back to ‘normal’ – safely

Getting back to ‘normal’ – safely

From July onwards TOPRA will start to offer some face-to-face courses in addition to the online option. These will be held in the TOPRA office or other COVID-19 compliant venues in line with Government advice.

Delegates’, speakers’ and staff safety is our priority, and we are introducing the following policies.

Pre-course COVID-19 testing

In line with current Government advice, rapid lateral flow testing is available free to anyone without symptoms, including those who have been vaccinated. You can get your tests from pharmacies, testing sites, employers, schools, colleges and universities.

TOPRA is pleased to have available some home-test kits for delegates and staff to take away and use, contact the week before the course is due to start.
Find out more about how to get rapid lateral flow tests via the UK Governments website:

Asymptomatic testing is voluntary, however should the lateral flow test prove positive, you are required to self-isolate and take a PCR test for confirmation. If COVID-19 infection is confirmed, you will then need to continue to self-isolate and follow Government guidance.

If you have Covid-19 symptoms you should get a PCR test and self-isolate following Government guidance.

All delegates and speakers are strongly encouraged to test before attending courses. MSc students and apprentices may find it useful to make use of the test kits available from TOPRA so that they can test before each course.

COVID-19 safety procedures during the course

At the TOPRA office

  • Access to the main building has a one-way system in effect. Delegates will use the main entrance, notifying the buildings reception of their arrival, and have access to the lifts and stairs just beyond the main reception of the building. To exit the building there is an alternative staircase – and the use of a lift for delegates who require it.
  • At the TOPRA office reception on the 6th Floor, delegates will be greeted and have access to hand sanitizer, the NHS Track and Trace QR code, and additional face masks if they are required.
  • Delegates should follow the markings on the floor that encourage social distancing and use the one-way system in operation through the main meeting room.
  • TOPRA staff will be available to assist and answer questions throughout.

Please note: The number of delegates has been reduced to ensure that social distancing measures can be adhered to in the office. Where there is a higher number of delegates alternative local venues with greater capacity will be sourced to ensure everyone’s safety.
