TOPRA Symposium attracts record number of delegates, National and European Agency Staff
TOPRA Symposium attracts record number of delegates, National and European Agency Staff The Fifth TOPRA Annual Symposium began yesterday in Budapest. The three day conference will cover a broad range of the most topical subjects for professionals in all areas of regulatory affairs.
The meeting was opened by Dr Héjja Mária, Head of The Department of Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices, Hungarian Ministry of Health.
On behalf of the Ministry, she welcomed delegates to Budapest for such an important scientific conference.
Despite economic conditions and declining expenditure by companies on conference programming noted by some observers, the TOPRA meeting has attracted over 400 delegates and speakers—the most ever.
These delegates hail from 23 countries around the world—some travelled from as far away as New Zealand and Japan.
The number of national agency representatives has also seen a significant increase over the 2007 Symposium in Copenhagen. There are 85 representatives from 16 agencies who are either attending as delegates or making presentations.
Symposium Working Chair Patrizia Nestby said, ' We're delighted that the meeting has attracted so much interest from all areas of the industry. For us success isn't just an increase in delegate numbers; it's also a noticeable difference in seniority of delegates and a real desire by National Agency, EMEA and European Commission to participate. Early feedback has suggested this is due to the strength of our scientific programme, the tremendous setting of Budapest and the opportunities for professional development through networking.'
The Symposium continues through Wednesday.
