A summary of the TOPRA Lifelong Learning Scheme Why is TOPRA introducing Lifelong Learning (LLL)? Continuing Professional Development (CPD) has already been in place in most professional bodies for some years in one form or another. The TOPRA Board has agreed to roll out the first phase LLL is a tool for RA professionals at all stages of their careers, from new entrants to the profession through to senior level staff. What benefits will the TOPRA LLL scheme give me? • It will give me as a registered TOPRA member a tool for personal and professional planning and development. What is Lifelong Learning? LLL includes attending formal in-house or external training courses or workshops but is also a much broader concept which includes: How much time should I spend on LLL per year? TOPRA recommends that 50 - 100 hours of all types of LLL per year would be a reasonable target. As TOPRA's LLL scheme started in April, for the remainder of 2008 you would have to complete 50 hours of all types of LLL. What do I need to do to meet the TOPRA LLL requirements? • Define my development needs based on a personal plan (a Professional Learning Plan); TOPRA has developed a Lifelong Learning Log to enable you to keep a record. To download this form click here. To assist you in completing this log, you can view a completed Log here. Where can I get further information and advice on Lifelong Learning?
