TOPRA launches new strategy to support 21st century regulatory professionals

President Nick Sykes launched TOPRA’s new strategic plan at the Annual Review Meeting in Dublin on 1 October. This plan has been developed by the Board and current executive team working in partnership with expert business advisers.

By 2025, the background of those who choose regulatory affairs as their career path, the skills they will need to develop, the procedures they will follow, and the relationships they will nurture will all be significantly different, so the new plan responds to these changing needs.

“TOPRA will respond by adapting our education and training programmes in both content and delivery, aligning with new partners, and taking an increasingly global approach in all activities,” said Sykes. “We will build on our highly regarded heritage of support for skills development and driving professional excellence; continuing to be a fit-for-purpose membership body.”

To drive successful delivery of these aims, TOPRA has set strategic objectives within the context of six overarching themes:

  • Community
  • Professional excellence
  • Nurturing innovation and science
  • Engagement and connectivity
  • Global reach and value
  • Sustainability and resilience

President-Elect Steve Hayes commented: “Members and stakeholders should expect to see us doing more of what we do best: delivering high-quality services and developing new opportunities consistent with our core purpose and values. All the while we will continue to operate a sound and well-governed not-for-profit business, willing to make significant investment in the future.”

New Chief Executive Kevin Pay added: “TOPRA’s success in the past in establishing itself as the organisation supporting regulatory professional in all sectors has given us a firm foundation on which to build. I relish the challenge of leading the next exciting stage in our development.”
