TOPRA IN Benelux Network Event at FAMHP
TOPRA’s IN Benelux Community Steering Group is pleased to invite you to a network event that will be co-hosted by Belgium’s national competent authority, the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP), at its offices in Brussels. As part of the network event, the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP) will provide further information on its main areas of focus i.e. vaccines and ATMPs. There will also be an opportunity for questions and in-person conversations with other healthcare regulatory affairs professionals at this event.

As part of the network event, the FAMHP will provide further information on its Strategic Plan, the FAMHP Spearhead Domains of ATMP’s and Vaccines as well as the Management of Shortages at Belgium and European Level.
Suitable for
TOPRA members and non-members interested in the FAMPH, meeting agency staff and other healthcare regulatory professionals in an informal setting.
This network event will specifically allow:
- Understanding of the FAMHP Strategic Plan and ATMP and Vaccines Spearhead areas.
- Learning how the FAHMP helps address shortages in an EU context.
- Meeting agency staff and colleagues in healthcare regulatory affairs.
Facilitator
Frank Vandendriessche
is a Pharmacist with PhD and has been active in scientific and strategic regulatory affairs for more than 25 years at three major companies (Pfizer AH, GSKBiologicals, MSD) and as a regulatory affairs consultant for 10 years. Frank is the Co-Chair of the TOPRA IN Benelux Community Steering Group.
Speakers
Valerie Nys
holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the UCL. She’s been active in public health and project management for many years, with experience in both national and European initiatives. She worked for 18 years for the Mutualités Libres/Onafhankelijke Ziekenfondsen at Director level. Valerie joined the FAMHP in 2016 as program manager and since March 2024 leads the Strategy Realisation Office. Her work focuses on helping teams align around shared goals, improve how they collaborate, and bring strategic ideas into practice. Valerie is someone who values clarity, teamwork, and steady progress.
Sophie Bruneel
graduated as a pharmacist from Ghent University and has worked in a community pharmacy before starting her current position at the FAMHP. She has been working on the topic of shortages since 2017 and has evolved to Head of the Unavailabilities Entity. She is an expert in the management of shortages at a national level but is aware of European initiatives since she worked for the shortages team at EMA as a collaborating expert for 1 year in 2023-2024.
Jonathan Malcorps
holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from the University of Maastricht and a European Master’s degree in Health Economics and Management from the Universities of Bologna and Oslo. Prior to joining the FAMHP, he worked as a Public Affairs Consultant on EU health policy and advocacy campaigns, particularly in the fields of rare diseases and ATMPs. Jonathan has extensive experience in European health policy, having been actively involved in high-level negotiations on the EU's pharmaceutical legislation during Belgium's Presidency of the Council of the EU. Sam has also been instrumental in organising key events such as the Heads of Medicines Agencies meetings and the High-Level Conference on Health-related Needs as Drivers for Healthcare Policy and Innovation. He is the Coordinator for International Strategy on Shortages and Security of Supply at the FAMHP in Belgium. In this role, he plays a pivotal part in developing international partnerships to address critical medicine shortages, with a particular focus on supply chain security.
