Overview and summary of TOPRA in Ireland activities
The vision of TOPRA in IrelandLocal TOPRa Organisations (LTO’s) is to be an organisation and network for Healthcare Regulatory Affairs (HRA) professionals living and working in Ireland.
In 2010, an ad hoc meeting of interested parties led to a first brainstorming “TOPRA in Ireland” meeting, which was well attended by a cross-section of the pharmaceutical and device industries. Out of this meeting, a Working Party (WP) was formed and a list of items of interest emerged that included further networking and training that could be provided by TOPRA or members of the group. It was also agreed that there be no geographical limitation with respect to the island of Ireland, even though from a regulatory point of view Northern Ireland is under the remit of the UK health authority. It was important to all present that the opportunity for all TOPRA members on the island of Ireland be able to get together to share experiences and network.
The main aims of the TOPRA in Ireland are to:
- Identify a group of interested and like minded individual professionals in HRA related to TOPRA in Ireland and to encourage networking.
- Identify key ‘stakeholders’ in HRA related organisations in Ireland and to encourage networking.
- Identify areas of interest and current awareness programmes that may be facilitated by TOPRA and its volunteers.
- Identify education and training needs in Ireland in association with TOPRA.
- Increase the involvement of TOPRA members in local HRA activities in Ireland.
- Enhance the professionalism and expertise of HRA in the wider community.
- Collect local HRA information that maybe be useful for local and other members of TOPRA.
- Promote TOPRA and HRA in Ireland.
which may take the form of Networking events and or Local Training Events, face to face or via telelconference.
