At a recent meeting of the TOPRA Board, consideration was given to suggestions by members that TOPRA sets up a Clinical Trials SPIN (Special Interest Group), to share information and experiences on the regulatory aspects of clinical trials. The aim of SPIN groups is to allow TOPRA members to have a network of fellow professionals who share an interest with whom they can exchange information, ask for help and occasionally meet. The SPIN groups are administered via electronic means and so are open to all members, wherever they are based, but from time to time those who can, meet at the TOPRA HQ. The activities of the various SPIN groups vary, but most of them work together to help with special issues of the journal, perhaps contribute to the TOPRA education and training programme, and also arrange teleconference meetings on special topics where ideas can be shared, sometimes involving a guest speaker.
