Current position and relevant professional experience:
I am a senior bio-pharmaceutical executive with extensive experience (>25 years) in global regulatory, pharmacovigilance and product development strategies, both in the biopharmaceutical and CRO industry.
As an active industry advocate, and current TOPRA Board member, I proactively pursue opportunities to advance the regulatory paradigm. As a recognised thought leader, I have delivered presentations, publications and engaged with a wide variety of stakeholders and various industry forum to help raise awareness, educate and shape our industry for the future.
An experienced leader of global regulatory functions, most recently the PPD global regulatory affairs function, I contribute to company strategy and vision, as well as providing consultancy and operational delivery across all elements of the product development and commercialisation continuum. I previously held leadership roles with Taro Pharmaceuticals, Élan Pharmaceuticals and GlaxoSmithKline.
My educational foundation includes a doctorate in analytical chemistry from the University of Hull, a diploma in management at The Open University and a validated diploma in management studies from the Institute of Management.
Current or previous involvement in TOPRA activities:
I have been a member of TOPRA since the start of my regulatory career (including BIRA and ESRA). Over the years, I have benefitted from training and development via TOPRA and grown my volunteer contribution to the organisation, including provision of articles in Regulatory Rapporteur and various SPIN groups. As a leader keen to ensure development of others, I have also encouraged and facilitated team contributions to many aspects of TOPRA.
After attending the first TOPRA Summit meeting, I joined the Summit organising committee and consequently have helped to shape all subsequent meetings. This includes content and delivery planning, co-leading one of the ‘Debate and Impact’ session /workshops at each
event and contributing to the published meeting reports.
A current TOPRA Board member, I am actively engaged in all Board activities, including developing the strategy and vision which will build on ‘TOPRA 2020’.
Personal statement:
My passion is influencing change to improve health equality worldwide, so patients and consumers live longer healthier lives. Regulatory professionals facilitate products from ‘bench
to bedside’ - we can ‘make a difference’.
I am grateful to have served the TOPRA Board since 2018; I have insight to how TOPRA operates and am actively engaged on our long-term vision for the organisation including how
to better enable the regulatory professional in an ever-evolving environment.
Being re-elected would be an honour; I would continue to leverage my industry expertise and bring continuity to the Board's strategic planning – driving regulatory excellence beyond 2020.
